Skate Creek Road Along With FS25

On Friday July 3, many of us had the day off, so Kenny Urban put together a nice little ride which departed from Hinshaw's Motorcycle in Auburn. We had 9 bikes: Kenny Urban, Doug Babcock, Gary Beard, Gary Paul Reinke, Gary's Friend Ramon on a metric cruiser, Mike Briese on his ST1100, Bill Holt, Bob Price & Merle Swanson, and me on my ST1100. Departing Hinshaw's, we headed down 167 and then 512 before heading south on Meridian through Puyallup where we took a brief stop to allow Mike Briese to make an adjustment in his new CB antenna installation.

Soon we were on WA 7 and riding the twisties east on our way to and through Elbe. We then turned south and rode Skate Creek Road which turned out to be a bit rough.

Arriving in Packwood, some re-filled, and we took a little break. Then it was short ride west to WA 131 where we headed south on FS25. FS25 was in good shape with a little area when a culvert was washed out and a temporary bridge was installed.

I dropped behind the group and took the opportunity to take a few pictures with the ST1100 and Mt. St. Helens.

Then I grouped back up with them at Northwoods at the Eagle's Cliff for a short break.

This fig bar's for Neil!

Departing Northwoods, we headed back north in several groups with a plan to meet at Morton at the Jalisco Plaza for a little late lunch. We ended up re-grouping along FS25 and re-hydrated and snacked a bit.

Continuing north we made another brief stop to help one of our riders get his sugar level back up. As we made the left turn heading east on WA7, Michael Greer and his son came riding by and joined the group until Morton.

After a nice late lunch (I had only two tacos - just like salad, Tom), we headed north on WA7, and through Eatonville, and then Orting and back home.

It was a great little route of just under 300 miles for me with lots of twisties and a chance to re-ride some favorite roads. Since I didn't get enough riding in, I rode home, changed bikes to the Wing, loaded the trailer and took Angela north to Anacortes (another 100 or so miles) so that we could be in position to do the pre-ride of the WA District Rally routes on Saturday.
